How we operate
The most important people at Paddington's Hospital Radio are the hundreds of patients on the wards in the hospitals we serve. We try to build a relationship with patients. Through face to face ward visiting where our volunteers chat, demonstrate how the bedside entertainment sets work, and collect record requests. In the programmes that relationship continues.
Having collected requests, ward visitors return to our well stocked record library where records or computer audio are matched up to the request forms and the programme is prepared.
More often than not, the person that collected the requests at the bedside a short while ago is now reading out the requests and talking about what was happening on the wards "on the air".
Our programmes mainly revolve around patient requests and patient involvement : that way we know someone is listening!!
